For Childcare providers:

1. How much does Otterby charge childcare providers?

There is no cost to our partners. Childcare providers are welcome to join at any time. It takes just minutes to build your profile, to create your availability, and to open doors to offer occasional care with no fees attached.  

2. How do I get paid?

Providers are paid via direct deposit. Payment will be transferred to your account within 24 hours of child’s check-in.

3. Will I have to change my childcare policies?

Absolutely not! Otterby will never interfere with your childcare’s policies or day-to-day business. It is highly encouraged, however, to be as transparent as possible when creating or modifying your profile. Make sure all of your information is accurate and up-to-date.

4. Can I accept “Instant booking” for my available spots?

Yes, you can! For every booking that you create, you will have the option of making it either an “instant booking’ or “confirm before booking”. If you prefer “instant booking”, parents will be able to book with you instantly. Parents have the option of getting in touch with you through “contact provider” tab before opting for “instant booking”.

5. I would like to know more about the child before accepting a booking.

We understand that. Childcare is a huge task, and you want to make sure that you are the right fit. You will have the choice to opt for “confirm before booking” preference when creating a slot. By opting this, you will have the option of contacting the parent and to be able ask them additional questions about the child before accepting their booking.

For parents/care seekers:

1. Is Otterby free to join?

Yes! You can join Otterby for free. Anyone can sign up – our goal is to provide easy-to-access, trustworthy childcare for every family.

2. How much does it cost?

The cost is decided by each childcare provider, based on the age group, dates, and times they offer. In addition, parents pay a payment processing charge and a 5% service fee to Otterby to run the platform smoothly and cover the cost of service we provide. 

3. Is it safe?

All of our partners have years of experience in childcare. Each provider is required to verify their identity and provide proof of a first aid training certification. We also encourage our partners to provide a recent police background check. Before choosing a childcare for your family, we recommend reading the provider’s profile to make sure it’s the right fit your child.

4. Can I book more than one time slot with the same childcare provider, on different days?

Yes, as long as there is space available for multiple bookings. Refer to the provider’s calendar for details.

5. Can I book a slot for more than one child with the same childcare provider?

Yes, as long as the childcare provider has multiple spots for the age group you are looking for. Refer to the provider’s profile for details.

6. Can I cancel my booking?

Each childcare provider has their own cancellation policy. We recommend checking the provider’s cancellation policy before making a booking, as well as read any additional policies they may have for drop-offs, pick-ups, or immunizations.

7. Can I get a refund?

Our refund policy is dependent on cancellation policy of the childcare provider.

8. When can I book occasional care for?

If a spot is available, you can book it! During the week, on the weekend, in the morning, in the evenings, during holidays or vacations. We want to make occasional care easy and accessible. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, request a booking.  

Remember: our providers’ availability can change from week to week, and new providers are joining our team daily. Check back often for a better chance to find your ideal day and time.

9. Is my information safe?

Your information is 100% safe. When you make a payment, none of your financial details are kept on our servers. Any personal information you provide is used strictly to enhance your experience on our website. Your information is not provided to any third parties.

10. Do I need to provide my child’s information for each drop off?

Parent dashboard has a “child profile” tab. Once you make your child’s profile there you are all set. At checkout page, just select the child’s name and all their information will be sent to the provider. It is easy, secure and you don’t have to fill in details every time you make a booking.

11. Do I need to have a face-to-face interview with providers?

You don’t have to. There are other ways to connect with them. You are encouraged to contact them using  “Contact Provider” tab available on provider’s profile to ask them questions or give out information. It is important that providers have all the important information, they will need, to look after your child. Also, for you to ask them questions and see if they are a right fit for your requirements. 

12. What if my child has special needs or allergies?

Every kid is different and have different needs. Please make sure to fill up their profile properly and include details that will help providers to look after them. Contact providers before booking a slot and ask/tell them your requirements. Alternatively, most providers will contact you, before confirming your booking, if they have additional questions.

Childcare providers have the right to cancel appointments if they do not receive the immunization copy of your child before drop off. Refunds will be issued as per childcare policy.

You can upload a copy of the immunization record on your "child profile" now or email it to the childcare provider before drop off. (Recommended 24 hours before drop off.)

Consent for Emergency Care and Transportation

If, due to such circumstances as injury or sudden illness, medical treatment is necessary, I authorize the childcare provider to take whatever emergency measures they deem necessary for the protection of my child/children while in their care.

I understand that this may involve calling paramedics, interpreting and carrying out their instructions, and transporting my child to a hospital, including the possible use of an ambulance.

This could also include emergency transportation required as a result of fire or other environmental emergencies.

I understand that this may be done prior to contacting me, and that any expense incurred for such treatment, including ambulance fees, is my responsibility.

Field trip consent

I understand that field trips may be a part of this childcare program. With this understanding, I hereby give my permission for the staff of the childcare, to take my child on field trips while he/she is in the program.

This form refers to short neighbourhood field trips such as walks to a playground, or park in close proximity to the childcare centre as well as other short duration and short distance trips. The children attending the field trip will be accompanied and supervised by the childcare staff at all times.
